Nyéleni is a rural town in Mali where, in 2007, 500 people gathered around food sovereignty and peasants’ rights. The name of this town has given its name to a process that has since grown in scope and vision, bringing together and collectivising struggles for a greener, more autonomous, more feminist, supportive, responsible, healthy, egalitarian and, in general, a world in which life and the planet are at the centre.

RIPESS Intercontinental has been actively involved since the beginning of this process after COVID19. In the International Steering Committee, in the regional meetings of all continents, and in working groups such as logistics and communication.

The Social Solidarity Economy and Food Sovereignty, as well as the other struggles that Nyéléni wants to unify, go together for a necessary systemic change.

Today, on the International Day of Action for Peoples’ Food Sovereignty and against Transnational Corporations, the 3rd Nyéléni Global Forum is launched, a platform that unites social movements and struggles for food sovereignty and social justice. This event brings together diverse sectors to build a common political agenda and strategies to achieve justice for all.
